The Core Packing List

Pack normal food, water instructions, medication, vet records, leash or harness, collar with ID, crate or carrier instructions, cleaning notes, emergency contacts, and a recent photo.

If the transporter supplies crates, ask what still needs to come with the pet. If you supply the carrier, confirm size, latch, bedding, and labeling.

Food And Medication

Pre-measure food by meal or day. Pack extra for delays. Send medications in labeled containers with dose, time, and whether food is required.

Do not send loose pills, mystery supplements, or new treats. If the pet has a medical condition, ask your vet for written travel instructions.

Paperwork And ID

Pack rabies records, vaccine records, health certificate if needed, microchip number, emergency vet permission, pickup and delivery contacts, and a copy of the contract.

Use one folder or envelope. The operator should not have to dig through bags to find paperwork.

Comfort Items

One familiar blanket, small toy, or scent item can help some pets. Keep it washable and safe. Avoid anything the pet might shred, swallow, or guard.

For cats and small pets, carrier stability matters more than overpacking comfort items.

Safety note: Do not pack anything that can block airflow, spill everywhere, or become a choking hazard in the crate.

What Not To Pack

Do not pack giant bins, fragile keepsakes, new food, raw food without agreement, loose medication, breakable bowls, or items that block ventilation.

Ask before sending extra belongings. A shared route has limited space.
